Sights in Budapest

ST. ELIZABETH'S PARISH CHURCH OF ÁRPÁDS' DYNASTY

Hungary > Central Hungary > Budapest

The church interior

is a bit puritan, but the ornamented columns and neo-Gothic elements still make it magnificent compared with exterior of church. Worth it to admire  the stained glass windows in the nave, the reliefs on the pulpit, the wonderful wooden altars, as well as the main altar made  from marble, onyx and bronze.

In 1889, a 28-member Church Building Committee was set, led by Vice Mayor Károly Gerlóczy and having studied several proposals the Municipal Assembly approved the plan of Steindl on 28 June 1892 for construction.

In the VII. district of Budapest,

at "Roses" square this building amazed people with it's neo-Gothic style, with ornate facade and a fabulous rose window, with 76 meter high towers. The church interior is a bit puritan compared with exterior of church, but the stained glass windows in the nave, the reliefs on the pulpit, the wonderful wooden altars, as well as the main altar made from marble, onyx and bronze are amazing.
